Joe opens up about the first 27 years of his life: a broken family, living under a different name, poverty, crime, time in Rikers Island, drug dealing and addiction, and the night he was ready to end his life.
That’s where the story turns. Joe describes a 2 a.m. moment when he picked up a Bible his brother had given him, opened to the Gospel of John, and felt seen—fully and unmistakably. What followed wasn’t a polished, instant transformation, but the beginning of a real process: learning to bring what was hidden into the light, confronting shame, and eventually walking away from cocaine for good after a turning-point encounter with God’s love.
